Ruggeri to Ride at Arlington Where He Will Keep Bug HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., June 20. James Ruggeri, one of the leading apprentice jockeys in the West, headed for Arlington Park, near Chicago, following Saturdays program here. Trainer Jess Byi-d, conditioner for J. K. Houssels Jr., has leased Ruggeris contract from William Butcher. Ruggeri and his agent, Dan Wilcher, decided to test the Midwest circuit, because the hustling apprentice will have 60 more winners to go before losing his "bug." Ruggeri loses his allowance today in California but in the Midwest and East an apprentice keeps the "bug" until he hits 100 winners. Ruggeri made his debut under silks last summer at Hollywood Park after serving a lengthy stretch with the infantry in the I Korean "police action."
