LACHES was close to the pace from the start and forging to the front cn the outside of the early leaders after entering the stretch, won in a drive. KING SHANNON was always a strong contender and held on with good courage. REGIS raced close behind the pacemakers until well into the stretch, then came strongly on the outside-to be close up at the end. LAURA C. set the early pace and held on with good courage. TARZAN took a short lead in the first quarter and continuing well after being headed by BUT WHY, again forged to the front in the final furlong, but was all out to hold KIAMI. The latter was always close to the pace and closing with good courage on the outside, was pressing the winner. BUT WHY showed fine early speed and held on well. FLEET DREAM was racing gamely at the finish. FINE ALIBI was unable to keep up. JOVIAL JOVE soon sprinted to the front and, drawing away from the others when ready in the stretch, won with ease. ROYAL PRODUCT was fairly well up from the start and came steadily-through- the stretch to be easily best of the others. BONANZA MISS was closest to the leader in the first part and weakened in the last eighth. COMPACTOR made up ground and was going strongly at the finish. The latter was outrun to the last quarter but came strongly on the outside nearing the finish and was pressing. LADY ELLIOTT was closest to HEART FLASH while the latter was making the pace and held on fairly well. HAPPY AGE closed ground in the stretch. AMERICAN PLUCK was never a serious factor. CHARLIES GEM was unable to keep up with the early pace, but was not too far removed and, coming fast on the outside, in the last sixteenth, was up to win in the final strides. ROYAL BRIAR made a strong run around the stretch turn and continued to wear down SUMMER SOLSTICE in the stretch to show in front momentarily nearing the end, but could not hold the winner. ROMAN SENATOR closed up gamely in the last sixteenth and was very close to the first pair at the finish. SUMMER SOLSTICE got to the front on the inside early and held on well after having raced SOME QUESTION into defeat. IDLE PLATTER displayed good early speed in withstanding a couple of challenges from ALTERNATIVE and held on well. ALTERNATIVE had speed from the start but had something removed attempting to head IDLE PLATTER and weakened near the end. RECLINE raced steadily but did hot threaten to take command.
