Dozen Sprinters Named For Westlake Purse Ferro, The Veep and Big Money Vie for Honors at ThistleDown THISTLEDOWN, North Randall, Ohio, June 20. The second half of the 44-day ThistleDown session will commence with Tuesdays program. This week is the most important of the current meeting with the" 0,000 added Ohio Derby scheduled for Saturday. To start off the second half of the meeting two allowance races share equal billing on the card. These are posted as the sixth and seventh races. The first to be decided is the Westlake, a sprint of five and a half furlongs in which a dozen sprinters are named to compete for a purse of ,000, Offering the same purse value, the seventh race attracted the entry of seven routers to compete at one and one-sixteenth miles. Both are designed for three-year-bid and older horses. Several winners at the current meeting are included in the lineup in the sixth race. Ferro and The Veep each have won two purses and Big Money made the winners enclosure on one occasion. Besides this trio, listed overnight to start are Peu-a-Peu, Star Z., Bills Captain, Michael T. W., I?each Bud, Texas Flash, Tokalo, Potential and Eternal Mike. Ferro, owned by C. Burton, chalked up his second straight victory on Friday by downing Beau Black with, a length to spare at the end of the same distance requested in Tuesdays engagement. Before that he scored a front-running triumph by a half length over Miss Andrews going six furlongs. Jockey Charley McKee piloted him to both victories and has been assigned themount Tuesday. From the barn of Lee Clapp, The Veep romped six furlongs in 1:11 when scoring easily in his debut locally. Next time out he had difficulty handling a muddy strip and, after displaying early speed, faltered to be third to Lord Louis and Aggravator. Going in best form again on June 15, his latest time out, The Veep defeated Warehouseman with two and a half lengths to I spare at the end of five and a half furlongs. Big Money, performing for the Estate of Samuel D. Riddle, indicated he is again at peak condition, by leading throughout a trip of six furlongs in his most recent try. Traversing muddy footing,
