Four Trotters and Six Pacers Qualify for 5,000 Classics LOS ANGELES, Calif., June 20. Four top trotters and six star pacers have already earned starting berths in the two 5,000 American Classics, to be inaugurated by Western Harness Racing Association this fall at Hollywood Park. The trotters Jamie, Sharp Note, Lady Dunn, and Rhythmic Song and the pacers Scottish Chief, Freeman Hanover, Wilmingtons Star, Hillsota, Adios Boy and Warpath are all eligible for the races it was revealed today as Pres Jenuine, Western Harness vice-president and general manager announced the designated qualifying events for the two races. Thirty-seven of the nations major trotting events and a like number of pacing stakes, worth in excess of a million and a quarter dollars, make up the list of races. The trotting star Sharp Note and the pacers Scottish Chief and Freeman Hanover earned starting positions in their respective divisions of the American Classics by virtue of victories scored in stakes races at Santa Anita this spring. The other horses became eligible through recent wins in the east.
