My Dandy Purse Matches Eight at Fairmount Park Galway Boy Hard Sis, Gus Fan Are Shifty Opponents in Sprint By J. J. HAHN Staff Correspondent FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., June 20. The My Dandy Purse, a six furlongs dash for three-year-old and upward and in which eight are entered, headlines the eight-race program here Tuesday night. The race honors the former star horse who is buried at nearby Belleville, 111;, the son of Porte Drapeau made his first and only start as a juvenile at this track. My Dandy went from here to prove a great performer after being purchased by the Reichert Brothers of Belleville for a reported 2,000. Scheduled to make up the field for the My Dandy are several who have been running in local handicaps. They are Galway Boy, Hard Sis, Gus Fan and Mighty Epic. Matched against them are Spring Water, Bold Spot, Sheiks Image and Mary Jane G. Galway Boy has show good speed in most of his races but was a little above his head and usually stopped when the racing began. However, he seems to be properly placed and since he is the holder of the local one mile and 70 yards track record, is expected to come in for heavy support. Hard Sis is rounding to her best form and last Friday night it took a strong finish on the part of King Bebe to defeat this speedster. She seems to have most of the speed of her company and could make each post a winning one. Gus Fan, an also, ran in local handicaps during the early part of the meeting, surprised many Saturday night when he finished third to Fays Repaper and Harry-Lou in the ,500 Harrisburg Handicap. He, too, must be given consideration on that performance. As to Mighty Epic, this erratic fellow was installed a near public choice in his last apeparance and the best he could do was finish third to All Tilly and Tiger Bee in the Old Hickory Purse." The others have not raced well enough to warrant their taking the measure of their more formidable opponents.
