Under the allowance terms of the midweek feature, Thomas F. Devereux Great-s est, an outstanding performer here last sea son, and Frederick B. Pohls Irish-bred stallion, . Bay Bloom, are to shoulder the high weight burdens of 122 pounds. Greatest, successful in the 1954 Bull-Dog Hi-Weight Handicap and the Hazel Park Mile, failed thus far this year to race to his top form. His trials during the past week, however, have been on the quick side and he was clocked a half mile in :48 Monday morning. Greatest Dangerous Off Best Race While Greatest undoubtedly could prove troublesome should he turn in one of his better efforts, he may meet a tartar in Bay Bloom. Vandenborre to Ride Dustpan Dudley Vandenborre is engaged to handle Dustpan, Jimmy Breckons will be up on Bea Marony- and Mike Basile is to pilot either Reb-Misha or Activate. Larney Hansman will guide Princess Trace or Nocallula and Jimmy King is to be at the reins on either Hokey Pokey, or Bit o Fate. Billy Holborh rides Triumphant and Marcos Diaz will be up on World Series, scheduled to make his Detroit debut. No reinsman had been named late today for Greatest. Chief secondary offering on the Wednesday card is the Thumb Area Purse at six furlongs for three-year-olds. Mrs. Norman J. Hernandez Our Hines, who will be ridden by Bobby Baird, gets in with 116 pounds and the colt holds a royal chance for major honors. E. K. Thomas Uncle Wash, 110, with jockey Armstrong up, and J. H. Homans Jeffery J. S., 113 pounds to be handled by Jockey Hansman, appear to hold an edge over their five rivals, Joan E. L., Gay Warbler, Black Gallant, Col. Con and Business Trip.
