SHANO was closest to the early pace with OMcSMlTH and, after allowing the latter to lengthen his-lead in the stretch, wore him down to take command in the last thirty yards and won going away. OMcSMlTH went to the front at once and, displaying good speed while saving ground, held on well. ROYAL PRODUCT was rather slow to start, but soon reached contention, but raced steadily through the stretch. DAUPHIAM began slowly and closed considerable ground. BLUE DOMINO had early speed. YELLMANTOWN soon moved up closest to NEW STREAM and catching the latter faltering after entering the stretch, went to the front and j was not in danger thereafter. FLYING PAT was a forward factor from the start and, although losing ground on the stretch turn, was gaining on the leader. NEW STREAM saved ground while making the pace but had little left. CHANCE ALARM was never too far away but failed to threaten at any stage. LEGATEE had early speed. ARETE was off badly and made up some ground. HEDGEWOOD MISS dropped back after breaking well, but came fast in the stretch to catch PENNY FORTUNE in the last fifty yards and won under mild pressure. PENNY FORTUNE saved ground on the stretch turn to head RULE AGAIN and held on well in the final drive. RULE AGAIN showed good speed in pacemaking, but weakened in the stretch. FLEUR DAMOUR, while never a serious factor, was qoing steadily at the end. PARTHENIA had some early speed. BILLIGAL-and ISLAND QUEEN were outrun all the way. SKEPTICAL KID went to the front at once and, racing strongly after being joined by JOVIAL JOVE, shook off the latter entering the last furlong and drew out slowly thereafter. JOVIAL JOVE moved up to the leader on the far turn and headed him briefly on the stretch turn but weakened in the final drive. TOP MARK held third place safe at all times but failed to threaten the first twp. HOOP BAND was required to race a trifle wide but went steadily. ROYAL HONOR was going well at the finish. MR. PLATAN trailed the field to the stretch turn and then raced wide but came with a rush in the final sixteenth to catch DEVILMENT in the closing strides and win narrowly. DEVILMENT moved up on the outside on the strelch turn and caught MONTENEGRIN when straightened out for home to hold on with determination in the final drive. MONTENEGRIN-found an opening cn the stretch turn to take command but was not capable of holding the first two. SMOKELORE went evenly but was not dangerous. EN FLEUR had speed for sfc furlongs. PARADISE down the backstretch, then came to the outside of the latter nearing the stretch turn to again take command and cutting to the rail when clear, was not in danger of being overtaken. IN CLOVER was never too far away from the .pace and staged a strong finish in the middle of the track ORIENTAL SPRING was always within striking distance while saving ground and went gamely to the end.RUHE was close to the pace all the way but failed to threaten to take command.
