Six Oppose Betty Barr In Allowance Offering Imp Handicap Winner Has Our Only One as ThistleDown Rival By J. R. BATTY Staff Correspondent. THISTLEDOWN, North Randall, Ohio, June 28. Betty Barr, surprise victress in the Imp Handicap here a couple of weeks ago, returns to competition in an allowance sprint which is the principal offering on the program Wednesday at this track. A dash of six furlongs and having a purse of ,000, the headliner is posted as the sixth rj-race, and is exclusively for three-year-olds, Named overnight to oppose Betty Barr, owned by Mrs. Leonard M. Carver, are Beautiful Lady, Bit o Bim, Our Only One, Silver Crown, Private Affair and Kentucky Flame. . While Betty Barr beat a rather useful band of fillies and mares on June 18 when she captured the Imp, a ,500 added stake, she faces stern opposition from few of her foes Wednesday,. A 33 to chance in the wagering, Betty Barr took down the Imp, arriving at the end of six I furlongs nearly two lengths before Luciete. With 103 pounds aboard, six less than she is burdened tomorrow, Betty Barr was close to the swift early pace cut out by Solar System, took command in the stretch and was timed in 1:11 for the journey. This equals the fastest clockings for such dis- tance at the current session. A daughter of Natchez Cocktail Bar, Betty Barr finished second in her only other outing, local and in Maryland this spring, failed to produce a winning purse but managed to take a place award on two occasions. Lightly campaigned last year a juvenile, she was a winner once and finished second a couple of times. Our Only One, owned by Mrs. .Flo Silber- man, is going for her fourth straight victory in this encounter. Two of the trio she now has were scored locally and one at Pimlico before shipping to the point. Our Only One was clocked six furlongs in 1:11 when she defeated Be Mighty. Kentucky Flame, who races for Mrs. C. W. Damon, has also taken down a couple -of top purse awards at this session. She displayed speed on both occasions and should be a sharp contender from start to ; finish in this dash. Although unable to score at this meeting, Silver Crown fits well with this group. He was second to Lenny Gale first time out here. Apparently disliking the sloppy go-: ing, he finished sixth to Harold L. at the end of a mile in his latest try. At Ascot Park, Silver Crown won two races in as many attempts, i i j i
