Hartack Passes Shoemaker Willie Hartack Monday forged into a two-length lead, 190 to 188 winners, over Willie Shoemaker in their nip-and-tuck battle for the 1955 national riding crown. Both riders scored doubles on Saturday to wind up the week tied, but Hartack, returning to Arlington Park after a one-day stay at Delaware Park, racked up a double while Shoemaker was idle due to Mondays being dark at Hollywood Park. i
