Early Warning Punctual Delaware Park Favorite Mrs. Royal Firman Jrs Colt Never Headed; Bal Harbour Next DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 28. Mrs. Royal Firnian, Jr.s Early Warning proved a punctual favorite in this afternoons featured La France Purse, leading every step of the six furlongs to return .40. Handled by apprentice Ray Mik-konen, the Occupation three-year-old whipped members of his age while "being .timed in 1:11 flat before a crowd of 11,245. More than two lengths behind the winner came a three-horse photo, with Rappahannock Farms Bal Harbour, Brookfield Farms Idehi and William G. Boyce, Jr.s Last Fox finishing as named. With George M. Humphrey, secretary of the Treasury, witnessing the effort of his daughters pride and joy, Early Warning left no doubt as to his superiority. He established a clear lead in the opening strides, coasted into the stretch and was roused only mildly to be two and a quarter lengths in the van at the finish. Coming off a fair effort in Monmouths Select Handicap, Early Warning was accounting for his third purse in seven starts this season. David G. Neumans recent acquisition, I Koko Dozo, won his first purse for his new owner when he beat non-winners of two 1 races in the sixth event. The Double Brandy gelding led throughout to become the second consecutive winner for Ovie Scurlock, who had taken the previous race with Louis Lee Haggin, ILs Jock Scott. Koko Dozo lasted over Lazy F. Ranchs Chit Chat and Walter J. Appel;s Mid Stream to return 1.40. His time for six furlongs was 1:11. Nick Shuk accounted for both ends of the 2.40 Daily Double, winning the first race with Mrs. A. Riggs IV.s Bolder, a .60 favorite, and the second event with Gee M. Cohens Carol Ann C, odds-on choice at .80. Shuk now has 24 winners 0 during the meeting, as compared to 27 for the absent Willie Hartack, currently plying his trade in Chicago.
