: 7 Bob-O-BobOutruns Foes at Aqueduct Mrs. Charles Silvers Bay Juyenile Colt Graduates as 1 l-to-20 Choice With Crowd AQUEDUCT, L. I., N. Y., June 28. Taking the track at the start, Mrs. Charles Silvers Bob-O-Bob had no great trouble leading throughout the fifth event, which, though it was for maiden two-year-olds, was the best offering here today. With Dick McLaughlin urging him mildly through the long stretch, the son of Carrara Marble reached the end of the five and a half furlongs a length and a half before Clara L. Ostrikers Half Minute. Belair Studs Black Emperor finished fairly well to be another two lengths away and almost a length before John Barry Ryans Tulchan, who saved fourth money by a nose over Ogden Phipps Fluctuating. A prohibitive choice with the throng of 18,166 on an afternoon that saw the favorites performing in exemplary fashion, Bob-O-Bob paid .10 after getting the distance in 1:06 over a track that had dried out sufficiently to be labeled "fast," but was not at its best. Bob-O-Bob, who had finished a creditable third behind Getthere Jack in the Tremont Stakes last week, is eligible to test that colt again in. next Wednesdays Great American at six furlongs. Tulchan, who raced as though in need of this effort, i his first since April 16, is also eligible to the Great American, in which Getthere Jack will have to concede eight pounds. Grabs Lead Immediately McLaughlin sent Bob-O-Bob to the front at the start of the dash and was undisturbed when a black and white terrier shot in front of the field nearing the far turn. Black Emperor hit the canine, who then scurried under the outside rail, apparently more frightened than injured. At this point, Half Minute was a couple of lengths i behind the favorite, closely followed byl Tulchan, who was racing on the rail with Black Emperor close at hand on the extreme outside. Curving for home, Bob-O-Bob came out a bit and Tulchan moved up on the rail between calls, then appeared to hang as though short. While Bob-O-Bob continued about his business without being fully extended, Half Minute strove vainly to catch him, while Black Emperor finished strongly. Tulchan was stopping badly at the end, which made Fluctuating appear to be closing faster than he actually was. Of the others, Tanker again raced greenly, while the English Gun Shot showed little. C. V. Whitneys Brown Hackle, who was making his seasonal debut after a light campaign at two, was backed into favoritism in the Bellport Purse and continued the parade of the choices, scoring by a little more than a length over Joe W. Browns fast-finishing Hotel Man. Saxon Stables Cash Sale was a head away in third place, the same margin before Belair Studs Sailor. C. T. Chenerys Hildrix finished a fairly close fifth after setting the early pace. Hedley Woodhouse urged Brown Hackle over the six furlongs in a sparkling 1:11 on a dead track, and worked him out another eighth in 1:25, having to take the clubhouse turn quite wide. The son of Priam II. from the stakes winning Flyweight paid .20.
