NORDAL forced the pace to the stretch, then took a short lead and held on gamely under pressure to hold LONLEY ROBIN. The latter closed with a rush between horses in the last furlong and was gaining at every stride. GYP had the lead, while saving ground on the first turn and weakened in the final strides. KATHLEEN H., never far off the leaders, held on with good courage while between horses. COURT DOWD raced on the outside for the most part. LUCIETE tired in the,final sixteenth. OFF AT 2:14 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good. Won easily. TWO RAINBOWS, outrun for the first quarter, moved up strongly on the outside to take command on the stretch turn and drew out under a mild hand ride. BLUE CREST, always in a contending position, closed fast on the far outside but was no threat to the winner. IRISH SPARK, slow to settle, raced on the inside to the stretch, then came out in the last sixteenth to finish strongly. HASKELL CHIEF gave an even performance. BAY FOX raced close to the pace from the start, closed strongly on the outside through the last furlong, got up to win going away in the final stride. FORT BULL raced into the lead soon after the start, set the pace to the last sixteenth, then gave way under pressure. DON ALONZO was carried wide on the first turn, closed fast when in the clear. ORNUM moved up fast while on the outside going down the backstretch forged to the front entering the last sixteenth and had slight trouble keeping off STEP STEVIE. The latter had the lead early, set the pace to midway of the stretch, then drifted out all through the last furlong. CHALLAHYMA gave an even performance and finished strongly onvthe inside. ALI 0-K, slow to settle, moved up on the inside rounding the stretch turn and came out between horses in the final sixteenth. JOE JR. was never prominent. LO TOY tired after setting the early pace. PERSIA had the lead in the first furlong and held on under strong urging in the stretch to outfinish BAY BOY. The latter closed a wide gap in the last quarter while on the inside and was gaining at every stride. DR. JOE KAY raced closest to the winner to the last sixteenth, then gave way. INDIAN HEIR forced the pace from the beginning, forged to the front midway of the stretch and, under strong handling, was able to hold the lead. BISHOPS LIGHT had the lead in the first sixteenth, set the pace to the stretch, then gave way, coming again in the final strides but was not good enough. PAN moved up steadily in "the last quarter while saving ground. RICKOVER showed good speed to the stretch while saving all ground possible. PETES FOLLY raced far back of the field for the first half mile and closed a wide gap while on the far outside. SUN KING gave an even performance. RACETRACKER was never prominent. ON THE JOB tired.
