Rancocas, Colonial On Camden Roster Decide Former Wednesday, Latter Headlines Week-End Program at Garden State By BOB McCURLEY Staff Correspondent GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 9. — The distaff side takes the spotlight here during the coming week with the 5,000 Rancocas Stakes Wednesday and the 5,000 Colonial Handicap down for decision Saturday. The Rancocas, which is at 5 furlongs, is for two-year-olds, while the 6 furlongs Colonial is for three-year-olds and upward. The Triple "M" Farms Tinkalero, heroine of a quartet of stakes events already this season, heads a xoster of 39 nominees for the Colonial. The four-year-old daughter of the fleet Bolero will meet seven other Colonial eligibles in Mondays feature event. The race, which has been named the Barrington Purse, is at the Colonial distance. Arrayed against Tinkalero will be Anthony P. Bovellos Battle Hill, 116; Christiana Stables Endine, 111, with the five pound apprentice allowance claimed; B. A. Darios Dandy Blitzen, 121; Dorchester Farm Stables Stay Smoochie, 111; Charles S. Handelmans pair of Betty Linn, 116, and Bonnie A., 112, and A. T. Taylors Miss Orestes, 112. Tinkalero, who will carry 121 pounds Monday, has won the Abraham Lincoln, Burch, Barbara Frietchie and Correction Handicaps this season and was a bang-up second to Brookfield Farms Isendu in the Inquisitor Handicap at Jamaica. She will have the services of Arthur Sherman, her regular rider, Monday. Endine in Seasonal Bow The Barrington will be the vehicle for the seasonal debut of Endine, who last year captured the rich Delaware Handicap and the Ladies Handicap at Belmont. The five-year-old Rico Monte mare prefers more distance than the 6 panels of the Barrington, her two important scores last year coming at 10 and 12 furlongs, respectively. Dandy Blitzen turned in one of her best races in her last start, capturing Suffolks John Alden Handicap in 1:09%, an effort which equalled the 6 furlongs standard at the New England course and in the process turned back Tinkalero. The best the latter could do was fourth, beaten almost six lengths. - Dandy Blitzens retired stable-mate, Venomous, won the last two renewals of the Colonial. Other leading eligibles for the Colonial, who have passed up Mondays Prep, include Fred P. Meaghers Mares Beau, a winner over colts and horses in Laurels Capitol Handicap; Mrs. Josephine Bay Pauls Idun, two-year-old filly champion of 1957 and heroine of this seasons Columbiana; Harold H. Polks Mile. Dianne, Carolyn K. Stables Dance Card and Mc-Iver Pricketts Mrs. Hellen. The Rancocas, which wilf have its 17th running, Wednesday, has been won in the past by such good distaff stars as Alfred G. Vanderbilts Bed o Roses, Cary C. Boshamers Miss Nosoca, Bobanet Stables Brazen Brat and Elmendorfs Oil Rich. Whether there are any such as these in the list of 82 nominations remains to be seen. Best to show thus far at the meeting have been Mrs. Milton Erlangers Moya and Mrs. Earl B. Stewarts Penny Circle, both of whom are winners here. Others who have shown speed in local starts are Kane and Charles Ebbies Girl, Joseph W. La-croix pair of Amony and Missus Beau, John A. Manfusos Absinthe and Irvin Davids Chalvedele.
