Fabulist Opposes Eight in Littleton Totes 114 Pounds Topweight Monday Fourth of Handicap Series At Sportsmans Park Attracts Running Wolf and Side Light By C. A. LINDEMAN Staff Correspondent SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 9. — Fabulist, an eight-year-old roan from the Sophire Stable who will race coupled with the North Star Ranchs Choice Double, .drew top weight of 114 pounds in the ,500 Littleman Handicap, fourth in this handicap series, to be run Monday. The fourth presentation of the series by the National Jockey Club drew a nine-horse field for the marathon distance of a mile and five-sixteenths. Main contenders opposing Fabulist are Running Wolf from Valley View Farm, 113; and newcomer, Side Light, who races in the interest of the- William Hal Bishop, Inc., 112 pounds. Fabulist, who didnt fare too well in the Littleman Handicap No. 3 when he finished ninth, beaten off by over 20 lengths at a mile and one-eighth, is capable of showing much better form. For the most part, this son of Mighty Story and Sweet Tilly has been competing against better horses than he is meeting in the Monday fixture. Won Over ,000 Claimers Going back several months, his record shows him winning over horses in the ,000 claiming range, with other races close up to horses competing for as high as ,500. Should this router run back to his better races, he will be hard to handle * with 114 pounds. Running Wolf, who will be sporting the silks of Valley View Farm for the third time this meeting, gave much better evidence of being ready for the longer distance of a mile and five-sixteenths than did Fabulist. Although he was also beaten off by a wide margin, he was starting to turn it on in the later stages of the Littleman No. 3. In his first outing here, the six-year-old son of Noble Hero and Leon-ardtown was a close second to Galcir at a mile in muddy going. Running Wolf is more at home where the claiming price approximates ,500. The powerful Bishop stable will be represented in the Littleman Handicap with the consistent performer, Side Light, who will be shouldering 112 pounds. This will mark the first outing at the Cicero oval this year for the seven-year-old middle-distance runner. Prior to shipping here, the son of Ardan won two of his five starts at Laurel; both over a distance. He ■ carries weight nicely and should prove a worthy opponent. 1 Tru Blu Lu and Sand Shark carry equal weights of 111 pounds in this fourth pres-| entation of the Littleman. Both gave top performances in their last outings here in the Littleman No. 3 when they finished I second and third, respectively. Tru Blu Lu, of the F. L. Flanders stable, came from well back to get up in the closing strides to take down place money, while Sand Shark closed a wide gap to get the show end of the purse.
