Renew Black-Eyed Susan At Pimlico on Wednesday Hidden Talent, High Bid, Cobul And Shirley Jones Top Prospects By PALMER HEAGERTY Staff Correspondent PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 9.— With all eyes focused on Maryland and the upcoming 50,000-added Preakness, in which Sword Dancer, first Landing and other aspiring three-year-olds will compete at 1 3-16 miles for the second gem in racings Triple Crown, the Maryland Jockey Club also offers an excellent opportunity to fillies of the same age. Featuring the midweek sport at historic Pimlico will be the 0,000 added Black Eyed Susan stakes, at 1 1-16 miles. Foremost of the likely participants in this years renewal is Cain Hoy Stables Hidden talent, a daughter of Dark Star — Dangerous Dame who accounted for the Ashland and a division of the Kentucky Oaks in her last two appearances. She boasts a season record of four victories in six starts and many are placing her at the top of the list in regards to this seasons titular aspirants of the division. Brae Burn Farms Shirley Jones, Mrs. N. M. Schencks Cobul and Wheatley Stables High Bid, who finished as named in front of last years juenvile queen. Quill, in a recent Jamaica allowance event, also are pointing for the race. The aforementioned trio finished within a length of each other at the Black Eyed Susan distance in that engagement and another meeting will prove of great interest. Shirley Jones was unbeaten in three outings as a two-year-old and had made only one previous start during the current term. With the sharp return- to form, she should hold her own against top members of the division. - Cobul, while she hasnt won a race this season, has all fair efforts in a half-dozen starts, including a fourth in the Jasmine and a third in the Prioress. High Bid was favored over both Quill and Shirley Jones in their recent meeting and boasts four galloping victories during the year and was just two lengths behind Cobul in the Prioress. Another high among the Susan prospects is Mrs. Ethel D. Jacobs Hope Is Eternal, a three-time winner this year and second behind Miss Royal in a division of the Prioress. In her last outing, the Gray Turn-to Miss was pitted against older fillies and mares in the Bed o Roses and was far from disgraced while finishing fifth, beaten only two and one-half lengths. Other prospects include: Harold H. Polks Toluene, third in the Jasmine in one of her three starts this season and currently training vrell locally; Michael Donofrios Cerv-ina, a recent winner at Laurel; and Milton Shagrins San Ju Lee, who won here.
