Robertson Scores Aboard Breezy Indian at Maumee Ann-Mar Seals 9.80 Double; Debonair Carol Registers Upset By T. J. MULLIGAN Staff Correspondent MAUMEE DOWNS, Maumee, Ohio, May 9— Ideal racing conditions prevailed here this afternoon, with warm breezes and sunny skies the order of the day. An early estimated crowd of 6,000 turned out for the festivities of Red Feather Day, benefiting the Greater Toledo Community Chest and its 57 affiliated agencies, with the management of Maumee Downs contributing a check to this worthy cause. Veteran Kenny Robertson, who rode two winners on Fridays program, had the distinction of booting home the winner of the curtain-raiser on the Saturday program. He was aboard L. R. The son of Scotts Indian paid .60 and negotiated the six panels in 1:14 on a fast track. Ann-Mar, a bay daughter of the famed Rippey, scampered to a three and one-half lengths victory in the second race on the week-end card to give Vic Bovine his 34th saddle win of the meeting and again place him in a tie with Bobby Wall for top riding honors. Van Horn from the S-E Stable was second, a short neck in advance of Mrs. D. Dupuys favored Triple-Crown. As the public choice in this test, the vie- tor returned .00 and completed a Daily Double worth 9.80. Debonair Carol, flaunting the silks of Green River Stable, scored an upset in the third race when she crossed the wire three parts of a length before C. Barkers Quick Imperial. The latter was a half-length to the fore of Mrs. G. Collins Anns-Ian. Be Rewarded, favorite, fronr-the As-Lan Stable, wound up fourth after setting the early pace.
