Fantasy Stable to Remain In Business at Centennial DENVER, May 9.— The Fantasy Stable, formed last spring by 50 Coloradoans interested in race horses, is still in business. Lester Friedman, president, and Paul Wooden, vice president, report that a meeting was held recently with 30 of the original 50 members in attendance. They said that membership is now down to 44 with six persons having dropped out. "We decided at the meeting," Wooden noted, "to go ahead with our one-horse racing venture this summer at Centennial. Members are now in search of a thoroughbred racer to buy and we hope to have our colors in action early in the Centennial meeting." The .group, still enthusiastic despite bad luck with their initial runner, all put in 00 in the beginning. With this ,000 stake Fantasy Stable bought the 4-year-old Argentine horse, Polichinela II. But in eight starts at Centennial the horse fin- ished second only once, putting on a late burst of speed that brought his 50 owners to their feet yelling with glee. He was claimed by another horseman late in the 1958 meeting. "We got indoctrinated the hard way in horse racing," Wooden pointed out, "but our members are still optimistic and we hope to have better luck in 1959."
