HAPPY SORT — Needs cheap company to rate consideration but morning trials have been on the speedy side. LAST SLAM — Dull effort over the grass. But a return to the main track could result in vast improvement. MONTE CARLO — Foreign-bred has come along satisfactorily under Bowes Bond and recent mile in 1:41 suggests debut is near. PEPPER C. — Beaten favorite for ,500 in last but raced well enough to suggest that he will make amends in near future. SUN BOLT — Made up ground while sprinting for ,500 in last and increased distance should prove an aid. THE NEEDLER — Broke tardily and had no chance under inexperienced rider in local debut. Improvement is probable. TOLUENE — Has trained splendidly for return to competition and should show to good advantage if not too ambitiously placed. TROPIC KING — Has trained well over the Pimlico track and should knock out a purse before completion of meeting. Tab against non-winners this year when sent 6V2 furlongs. FIGHTING BLUE — Blue Man sophomore was rated with top five juveniles in Ohio last summer and is coming around nicely lately. Repeat of either effort should elevate to top award. MANAOS — Was a trifle short after long layoff in debut over route. Look for snappy work to give this one a winning edge. SASHAYIN — Salmagundi mare was a - clever winner over a distance of ground at a good price. Seems in rare form and [ looks, a picture of health. : , [ BELMONT PARK ♦ ► BABU — Chilean-bred four-year-old colt is 3 rapidly nearing peak form. BALD EAGLE — Is back at Belmont and training impressively. Is at his best over * the grass but worked 6 furlongs on the dirt in 1:12%. HOMBURG— This St. Louis-owned colt is ready to leave the ranks of non-winners. Could develop into one of the best youngsters racing here. JOE MILL — Encountered bad racing luck Friday night and probably was best in that one. Wont be much price but properly placed in next should get home. STRONG POINT— Last was big effort for this one as he was nearly knocked down at the start, recovered gamely to close a I big gap while missing by just a nose. i Take right back against top allowance . company at 6 furlongs as he should have [ little trouble winning with a clean break. . THURSTON— Was off in a tangle in last but was still good enough to close a big gap to finish a close third.
