Illinois Notes WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, 111., May 23. Most recent horsemen from Churchill Downs to arrive upon the local scene was John McShane. The veteran conditioner now has four charges under his supervision. Fred Sharpe announced that he has en- gaged jockey Andy LoTurco to guide Mrs. Sharpes three-year-old, Kings Hope, in the Peabody Memorial. LoTurco has handled the Sharpe colt in several of his previous engagements. Judd Ault, veteran jockeys agent, checked in from Louisville. Ault will handle the engagement book of William Garner during the remainder of the present session. Newest addition to the ever-increasing local riders colony was apprentice Andrew Leggio. The youthful reinsman, who is under contract to James Emery, previously rode at New Orleans and Florida. Leggio is anxiously looking forward to his first saddle success. In addition to several other charges, Joe J. Lombardo has taken over the conditioning responsibilities of Thank You Sir and High Mayer. Both are owned by Sidney Carpenter. Trainer Dan Howell announced that he has engaged jockey Donald Wagner to ride W. O. Smiths Fancy Dandy in the Joliet. Sam Bryant Ott, trainer of a pretentious public stable, checked in from Churchill Downs. Ott has campaigned his unit over the major Illinois tracks for the last several years.
