Introduce Bill to Up State Take at Illinois Tracks SPRINGFIELD, 111., May 23.— A bill whereby the "take" from the mutuels at running horse- tracks in the state would be boosted 1 per cent, was introduced in the Assembly yesterday by "Rep. Powell D., Vienna . The additional revnue accruing in this manner, according to the measure, would be used to finance Chicago lake front improvements and downstate fairs. At the present time the total "take" from wagering at the five Chicagoland tracks is 13 per cent, with 5 per cent going to the state and the remaining 8 per cent to the tracks. The breakage is divided equally between the tracks and the state. In addition to the mutuel tax, the state exacts a daily license fee from 00 to ,500, a 20 cent tax on admissions and fees for horsemens licenses.
