Florida Mutuel Total Shows 19.6 P. C Gain Aggregate of 13,358,668 for Four Tracks Is Ail-Time High MIAMI, Fla., May 23.— Florida horse racing, according to figures from the Florida State Racing Commission, showed an increase of 19.6 per cent, in pari-mutuel play, last winter, reaching an all-time high total of 13,358,668. This increase produced an additional revenue for the state of ,531,983 over the preceding year, or a total of ,776,197. Tropical Park had the largest gain in mutuel play, 28.7 per cent, Hialeah next with 19.1 per cent and Gulfstream 17.9 per cent. As usual, however, Hialeah led in the matter of dollar increase with its play increasing ,358,495 for a total handle of 2,055,903 for 40 days of racing. Tropical gained ,007,783 over its previous season and Gulfstream Park ,073,331. Of the total revenue to the state from horse racing, ,605,654 came from Hialeah, ,931,845 from Gulfstream, ,023,-112 from Tropical and 15,584 from Sunshine Park. The 1950-51 mutuel handle was 4.5 per cent ahead of the previous all-time high for 1946-47.
