Arcaro High on Battlefield Following Recent Success BELMONT PARK, FJlmont, L. I., N. Y., May 23. — Eddie Arcaro was still bubbling enthusiasm about George D. Wideners Battlefield this morning. Last years juvenile champion won his first race of 1951 yesterday. "Battlefield finally acted like he did last year," Eddie said. "He acted as though he was interested in racing for the first time this year. He needed handling on the way to the gate and was on his toes as soon as he got into his stall. Thats the way he acted last year when he was taking all those races. Hell do from now on," Eddie added, "I hope." After winning the Preakness on Brooke-meade Stables Bold, Arcaro had said that the son of By Jimminy was the best of the threa-year-olds, but he already had a verbal agreement to ride Battlefield in the Belmont Stakes. This morning he seemed to feel that it might be profitable, as well as honorable, to keep his word.
