Name Final Acceptors For Epsom Derby May 30 LONDON, England, May 23 Reuters. — The Epsom Derby, to be run a week from today, besides being the richest classic ever run in Great Britain, likely will provide a record number of starters. Forty-four final acceptors were announced today, including three American-owned colts, Mrs. John Bryces North Carolina, William Woodwards Turco, arid Ralph Strassburgers Le Tyrol. The latter trained inFrance for the race. Although some of these may not start, there is every possibility that there will be more runners than the record set in 1862 when Caractaous beat 33 opponents. The total worth of the Derby is 4,190, of which 4,561 goes to the winning owner. Mrs. Bryce watched her colt, North Carolina, work out with his stablemate, Turco, at Newmarket Heath this morning. North Carolina was slightly more impressive than Turco, who was equipped with blinkers for the first time. News that Frances leading owner, Marcel Boussac, was going to rely on Nyangal solely, caused the odds on him to drop to 20 to 1 from 66 to 1.
