Battle for Defense Bond SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 23. — The battle for the 00 Defense Bond which goes to the winners in the apprentice and jockey divisions couldnt be much closer among the journeymen riders. Joey Spinale now leads with 13, Augustino Catalano- and Jimmy DeWitt are tied with 11, while Billie Fisk has 10. Ralph Borge- menke with 40 is staging a runaway among the "bug" boys.
