Three-Year-Old Fillies Clash in Pimlico Event Set Fan and Quiz Song Appear Class of Green Spring Purse PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 23. — Three-year-old fillies will hold the spotlight at the local course tomorrow afternoon in the Green Spring "Valley Purse, a five and one-half furlongs dash which carries a ,000 purse. Designed for non-winners of two races other than maiden or claiming, the feature has attracted seven fleet lassies. The classiest members of the field, as far as their 1950 races are concerned, are Bohemia Stables Sea Fan and Palatine Stables Quiz Song, who have been competing at Garden State Park. The others are local campaigners and include the winners Tides, from the Nydrie Stable, Mrs. M. MacNeillies Orb and Mrs. M. M. Jur-gens Vinnie. The other two members of the overnight field are Edward M. OTBer-rons Kings Lane -and A. A. Crabbes Tea Token. Sea Fan, whose forte as a juvenile was speed, has raced but twice this season and weakened in each of her starts. Her recent race was good, however, for she was beaten less than five lengths by Blue Speed in 1:11%. Quiz Song, too, was in that race and beat but a single horse while finishing some 15 lengths -behind the winner. That was her first start since being picked up, however, and she seems likely to improve. Of the trio of local winners, Tides seems to stand out over her rivals. Following a conditioner, this Blenheim n. filly came out to be a -galloping six-length winner in 1:07. A repeat of the effort would make her formidable in tomorrows company. Orb, a daughter of Swashbuckler, was a maiden when she came out this spring, but is unbeaten in two local starts, winning in 1:08% and again in 1:09; Vinnies score was over .,000 claimers in 1:08%. Tea Token, another speedy filly, has not turned in her true effort this spring while soundly beaten in three starts. Kings Lane is a maiden after 14 starts and was beaten a bit more than one length when third behind Vinnie in her last start. The supporting attraction, the mile and a sixteenth sixth race, matching middle-distance horses of the 0,000 to ,000 variety and a small field of five horses has been named to compete.- They are Bobanet Stables Attention Mark, A. Clatterbucks Weatherman, Edwin Werbers Vamanos, J. T. Gibsons Trout Lure and Nellie Anna-rinos My Nell. Attention Mark has raced i our times this spring and his only good effort came last out at Garden State Park. He bowed by only a head to Directoire in a mile and a sixteenth race • Weatherman has raced well all spring while being confined to sprint distances, but in each of his races he gave an indication that a mile and a sixteenth is well within his capabilities. In his last he made up considerable ground to be beaten but a neck by Marengo for ,500. Vamanos was a sprint winner over 1,-000 claimers at Bowie and recently turned in a clever effort at tomorrows distance. He was beaten three and one-half lengths while second to Taran. Trout Lure, while only a three-year-old, rates consideration. He was third to the Preakness winner, Bold, in his last start , but was beaten almost 20 lengths.
