Erb Arrives at Hollywood To Ride Swaps in Californian HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., June 10. — David Erb, 32-year-old veteran reinsman, arrived here this morning at 6 oclock from Chicago to handle Rex Ellsworths Swaps in the 00,000 added Californian Saturday. Trainer Mish Tenney made arrangements for Erb to fly out from Washington Park to ride the Kentucky Derby champion when the horses regular rider. Bill Shoemaker, was handed a five-day suspension beginning tomorrow for careless riding. - Erb will be making his first appearance at Hollywood since 1951 when he rode William Goetz Thataway to victory in the Lassie Stakes and finished second aboard Mission Stables Alate in the 0,000 Starlet Stakes. Erb previously rode for Tenney in 1952 when the Ellsworth Stable invaded the Chicago area. Erb was at Louisville last month when Swaps scored in the Derby and said this morning he considered it a great opportunity to be able to ride the colt in the Californian." v
