June 10. — The 0,000 Rose Leaves Stakes, a six-furlong allowance fixture for fillies and mares, will headline an attrac-r.tive program Saturday at this spacious Motor City racing grounds. The Rose Leaves will have its fifth renewal with an even dozen members of the distaff sex, representing eight interests, scheduled to clash in the sprint, always one of the high- light offerings on the Wolverine States stakes calendar. ; Betsy T., a five-year-old daughter of Triplicate and Rodia, shipped here from [ Chicago for the week-end feature, un-Ldoubtedly Will come in for strong support. •The Illinois-owned invader is the property of Marvin E. Tamarack Stables Sharbot, a five-year-old Pavot mare who was successful in the 1954 edition of the Rose Leaves, will start Saturday with a 112-pound burden. She has failed to show her best form in a pair of engagements here since arrival from Florida, but she could prove quite troublesome should she turn in one of her top efforts. Sharbots Rose Leaves triumph last year came at the direct expense of Ivan Peats Sun Tan Gal and Task Fleet, who raced for McOermott and Wellman in the stake. Nocallula, Princess Trace, Cols Daughter and Trip Lightly each will take up 109 pounds under the allowance terms I and with such a useful quartet to select from it is quite likely that the red and white silks will play a prominent role in the headliner. Bobby Robbin and Joe Gregory will handle the riding chores, on. two of the White starters. Foxie Jeanie VanBerg Hope Marion H. VanBerg, colorful Nebraska horseman who annually is high in the Michigan owher-trainer standings, will rely on the four-year-old Equifox filly, Foxie Jeanie, in the Saturday feature. Foxie Jeanie, who will have the saddle services of Lois -Cook, will take up 109 pounds. The VanBerg miss gave proof of her class here May 28 when she took a front-running decision in the six furlongs Flint Purse, stepping along in 1:10%. In the band following her to the wire were such ones as Trip Lightly, Princess Trace, Equimore, Second Avenue, Orchid, Endon, and Greatest. Others expected to start in the Rose Leaves are T. A. The latter three-year-old gets in with 106 pounds. Tonsina is the lightweight at 100 pounds while the remaining members of the probable starting field must take up 109 pounds. Bobby Reeves is engaged to handle Best Air, Bobby Bright will be up on Bettys Beauty, and Larry Gilligan drew the mount on Tonsina. No rider had been named today for Orchid. Racing secretary-handicappen Charles J. McLennan and the members of his staff arranged some excellent supporting offerings for the half -holiday sport. The Livonia Jaycees Purse, a one mile condition race for three-year-olds, and the six furlongs sixth event under claiming conditions drew s good fields. Post time for the first race on Saturdays and holidays at the local course is -set at 2:00 p.m.
