Report Owner Wilson Is III From his Corpus Christi home comes word that Sam Wilson is again ailing, which prevented him from seeing Tiger Wander score in the Joliet. It will be recalled that late last summer Wilson decided to sell his racing stock and put them on the block at Keeheland, only*to have a change of heart at the last minute. He bought, in all, but two of his sales offerings, but in the meantime the horses had been turned out and rested; . This diminishing practice of turning out horses for rest seems to have been a turning point in the success of the Wilson stable, for while the effect on the two-year-old Tiger Wander is not considered, older horses in the string appear to have been revitalized and the stable is enjoying its most successful season. It follows that jockey Alfred Popara is sharing in the victories to a greater extent than former riders for the stable. One of the most unusual stories recalled about trainer George Alexandra, who conditions the horses here of Chicago meat packer S. A. Alexander, was that of the winter long ago when he went to Cuba without a single horse and finished up that season as leading trainer on the island and again without a horse. Alexandra takes no great credit for his feat, which simply involved the claiming of likely horses, running them back for 00 less than he claimed them for, and banking the difference between the value of the win-, , ning purse and the claiming price. At that time it LKras .. permissible to claim without having started a â– orsV at the meeting.
