RUTH IE S. went to the front early, entered the stretch with a good lead but was briskly ridden during the drive to retain a clear advantage to the finish. JAY CEE, well placed from the outset, saved ground during the drive but was unable to reach the winner. FREEDOM FIRST raced well until inside the stretch, then falte/ed. LITTLE DOC began fast but dropped back immediately after the start, then was unable to threaten the leaders when set down in the drive. FLO D. lacked early foot and was never dangerous. JEAN THE JOKER tired after showing early speed. IN DEEP disliked the muddy track. LANDMARK GAL raced wide. CRAFTY SLEUTH showed nothing. Scratched— 500812 High Lama, 111. Jean the Joker claimed by R. GAME PRINCE, in hand after beginning alertly, was forced to go wide entering the stretch, remained in the middle of the track for the drive, closed strongly under hard urging and wore down GIFTED HAZEL in the concluding strides. The latter moved up fast approaching the stretch, reached the lead but was bothered repeatedly during the drive by MAXS REWARD and was unable to withstand the winner although probably best. MAXS REWARD took command after entering the backstretch, bore in during the drive and, seriously impeding GIFTED HAZEL in spite of his riders efforts to keep him straight, could not overtake the latter. TRICKY HOMER tired after racing well to the stretch. MISS. ETERNAL swerved to the inside immediately after the break, made a mild bid after a half mile, then weakened. HERES JAKE had early foot but failed to stay. DUSKY DOLL raced far back the entire trip. Scratched— 509072 Pickmen, 112. Miss Eternal claimed by M. H. VanBerg. BOSS JOHN raced evenly to the upper turn, moved up boldly on the inside entering the stretch and, after taking command, drew clear while under urging. XIPPI PIGEON went to the front early, set the pace until inside the stretch, but was unable to stay with the top one. GREAT HABIT gave a good performance and had no mishap. ALIE-ED raced wide and failed to rally when set down for the drive. CHIC WAVE tired after showing early speed. SIR .CHATTER had no excuse. DORIE began slowly and disliked the muddy going. CLAMOR saved ground while racing within striking distance of the leaders to the stretch, assumed command when ready and drew clear, winning with something left. SO BET ME raced COL. CON into defeat before reaching the stretch, continued willingly, but was not good enough for the top one. RIGOLADE lacked early speed and raced wide during the stretch run, finishing fairly well under punishment. PERIBROOK made a mild bid entering the stretch, then weakened. NEWATE failed to rally when set down for the drive. EARLY FOOT began sluggishly and was never dangerous. CHIC DEVIL had no excuse. COL. CON raced with SO BET ME to the stretch, then gave way. REVEILLE, outrun early, moved up determinedly nearing the stretch, drifted out at the turn, then took command from PEACE ADMIRAL and won going away. The latter reared at the break, was hustled to reach serious contention and reached the lead nearing the stretch, but could not hold the winner. NO SKIS raced forwardly placed to the stretch, then weakened. BE-MI-DEAR took an early lead, set the pace for five-eighths mile, then failed to stay. FIRST STAR could not keep up. AVENIDA, never far back, reached the lead between calls during the drive, but could not hold the winner. HOLLY MAC, a sharp factor from the start, went to the front leaving the upper turn, settled for the drive with a clear lead, then faltered. CHERRY STONE took an early lead, raced with HOLLY MAC until inside the stretch, then weakened. IDOL IMAGE was outrun and had no mishap. JAKANOR was never dangerous.
