HIGH LAMA gradually worked way forward under steady handling, assumed command after entering the stretch and drew clear while under brisk urging. CHINKAPIN, forwardly placed but in close quarters to the stretch, finished willingly when clear for the drive but was unable to reach the winner. JOFIELD lacked early foot but closed strongly under punishment. SWEET FREEDOM took an early lead, made the pace until inside the stretch, then faltered when challenged by HIGH LAMA. MISS BOXER began sluggishly- ALS CALL had a rough trip. BOORAL, outrun to the stretch, was unable to reach the leaders when set down in the drive. KING-AK lacked early foot. CHIMAPHILA had early speed but was caught in close quarters approaching the stretch and, taken up sharply, failed to recover. HAP GLAUDI, in close quarters at the upper turn, raced well to the stretch when clear but had nothing left for the drive. HEART LEAF could not keep up. R. White. IN GATE-4:141. OFF AT 4:16 EASTERN STANDARD TIME. Start good. Won driving; second and third the same. CHALLATEA, well placed early, was forced wide entering the stretch, disposed of BROWN BUBBLE when straight for the drive and won going away. The latter took an early lead, raced with ROBERT GABE to the stretch but could not withstand the top one. ROBERT GABE evenly in a good effort and had to mishap. TURN BLUE began alertly but raced greenly after the start. DEER-ACE lacked early foot. MISS J. B. made a mild bid in the early stretch, then weakened. CINDYAM, rank at the pest, showed little in the running. SYRIAN GIRL began sluggishly, disliked the slow track and raced evenly in a good effort and had no mishap. TURN BLUE began alertly but raced areenly after the start AND WAS ORDERED WITHDRAWN. ALL STRAIGHT, PLACE AND SHOW WAGERS ON LADDIES SIS WERE REFUNDED AND A CONSOLATION DAILY DOUBLE PAY-OFF OF 8.40 WAS RETURNED TO THOSE WHO COUPLED ,HER WITH HIGH LAMA, WINNER IN THE FIRST RACE. GWEN FACSIMILE, well placed from the start, raced between horses during the final furlong and, after disposing of JUST BARBARA, lasted to hold MIGHTY ROAN safe. The latter, away sluggishly and losing ground from the outset, finished willingly on his own courage but could not overtake the winner, although probably best. JUST BARBARA took an early- lead, made the pace until nearincr the finish, then faltered when challenged by GWEN FACSIMILE. TAROM began sluggishly but closed strongly in a sharp effort. SU-JAY began fast, then dropped back and raced evenly. HIGH LIVING lacked early • foot VANDANELL tired after showing early speed. FLYING GYPSY could not keep up. MARSHAWEISTA was through early. SOLICIT, never far back, went to the front after entering the stretch, then continued determinedly to hold BIG HEART. The latter took an early lead, drifted out entering the stretch and was unable to withstand the top one, alhough much the best of the others. SEE MY WAY began fast, but failed to keep up after showing early speed. RED ACE, racing in the deeoest going next to the inner rail to the stretch, failed to respond when set down in the drive. JEFFREY J. S., away sluggishly and outrun to the stretch, closed determinedly but could not threaten the winnen DEEDEE 0. took an early lead, made the pace to the stretch, then faltered when challenged by the winner. GAY WARBLER tired during the drive. OUR HINES made a good bid approaching the stretch but failed to stay when set down in teh drive. BLACK GALLANT raced with DEEDEE 0. to the stretch, then gave way.
