► Queen Asks Decision on Ascot Meet Be Deferred Til Monday Special to Daily Racing Form LONDON, England, June 10 Reuters. — The fate of the Royal Ascot meeting, scheduled to start next Tuesday, is still bound up with the British -railway strike. Stewards of the English Jockey Club announced tonight that Queen Elizabeth has agreed that a decision about the meeting be deferred until next Monday noon, if necessary. Last Tuesday the Jockey Club announced if the railway strike had not been settled by Saturday evening the Royal meeting would be postponed until later. Railway strike talks have been adjourned until tomorrow. The four-day Royal meeting is the highlight of_ the British turf season. Some 96,000 in prize money is being distributed over 24 races. John Hay Whitney, Walter M. Jeffords and Gerry Albertini are among the 11 prominent American owners with entries at the meeting.
