Noor Colt Helioscopes Half-Brother The only Royal Charger is an imported filly, consigned by Elmendorf Farm. Noor, whose six yearlings last year averaged over 4,000, will be represented by three colts and a filly, including a half-brother of Helioscope, entered by Miss Mildred Woolwine. Alibhai, one of the most popular sires of recent years with sales patrons, has five sons and six daughters listed. Among them are Combs half brother of Myrtle Charm and Forest Retreats half brother of Phalanx. Last years leading sire, Heliopolis, has four representatives, a colt out of the great race mare, Miss Grillo, in the consignment of Shawnee Farm, and three fillies, including a half sister of the filly champion, Sweet Pa-tootie, entered by E. E. Dale Shaffer. The great Count Fleet, whose 94 yearlings sold in the eight years since his first* crop went to auction have posted an average of nearly 5,000, has two colts and three fillies; the popular Roman, seven colts and one filly. Native Dancers sire Polynesian will be represented by three colts and six fillies, including a colt from Mereworth, out of the champion broodmare, Alpenstock HE. Altogther 111 different stallions have offspring in the sale. General manager William S. Evans is optimistic concerning the prospects of the sale since the quality of the offerings is excellent and racing is enjoying one of its best years. Last year a record average was established when the 344 lots brought a total of ,419,300, an average of ,940. The previous high was ,912 in 1946. What is believed to be the first offspring of the fabulous Tulyar, arrived in Central Kentucky, was foaled a few days ago at Leslie Combs ITs Spendthrift Farm. He is a bay colt out of Mrs. Elizabeth Grahams imported Fairchild, a mare purchased last December at Newmarket. Fairchild, by Fairway, is a granddaughter of a full sister of Sir Gallahad HI. and Bull Dog.
