MONTE ALTO lacked speed through the opening half, rallied well along the inside and outfinished LITTLE BEAVER. The latter responded to energetic urging andljust missed while wearing down TITIAN MAID. The latter set and pressed the pace until the final yards and weakened. BLUE RENO made up considerable ground after having trailed early. BERNICE W. gave way in the drive. SIND had speed in spots. CUB SCOUT failed to reach the first flight. CLEVER DEFENSE broke tardily. HUNCH PLAY was in front along the backstretch when his saddle slipped. VALLEY DANCER lacked early speed, raced wide into the stretch and settled down nicely to wear down the leaders and won easily. CLOVERLIN alternated in setting and pressing the pace, drew clear at the furlong and gave way in the late stages. GALA CRAVAT, allowed to settle into stride, moved boldly to the leader just inside the furlong pole, then hung. MONEY HONEY dropped back soon after the start, trailed to the stretch and closed well. ADMIRAL NELSON was formidable and weakened. SABERMAN was carried wide by VALLEY DANCER turning into the stretch. MISS BIRDIE weakened, as did UNCLE MIM. ALL THE TRICKS could not keep pace. FRENCH BREW UNSEATED HER RIDER AT THE STARTING POINT, RAN OFF FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AND WAS ORDERED WITHDRAWN. ALL MONEY WAGERED ON HER WAS REFUNDED. OVER DOVER alternated in setting and pressing the pace and swerved to the outside under pressure through the stretch, for which she was disqualified following an inquiry. HEIR OF PINES raced with the pace and on the outside, was bumped by OVER DOVER and also appeared crowded by BAIL OUT. The latter rallied until late stretch and was steadied while lugging in. LEATHERWOOD dropped back immediately after the start FIRST ANDY broke-badly. TEXAS PETE weakened, as did MADCAP MEG. HUNTSVILLE raced BRONZE WARRIOR into defeat on the turn, held sway under good urging and came back a bit lame. BELMONT BREEZE, allowed to race on his own courage early, improved his position from the outside and wore down STAFFORDSHIRE. The latter held a menacing position and lacked sufficient response. POINTING STAR wore down tired horses. BRONZE WARRIOR was much used while setting a swift pace along the backstretch and faltered. THOMAS PEPPER flattened out badly.
