Robert King, Los Angeles Turf Club Official, Dies Was Treasurer, Comptroller Of Santa Anita Association LOS ANGELES, Calif., June 10.— Robert E. King, treasurer and comptroller of Los Angeles Turf Club, Inc., died Thursday shortly after 5 p. m. at the Good Samaritan hospital in Los Angeles. He was taken to the hospital on June 1 following a heart attack and seemed to be improving- until he1 siuffe/ed another attack St1 noon.1 «; "Bob" King joined the Los Angeles Turf Club Dec. 1, 1934, and had been identified with racing at Santa Anita Park ever since. He was born in Mound City, Mq„ Dec. 27, 1898, and moved to Pomona in 1906 and was a graduate of Pomona High School. During World War I, King was employed in the office of the Adjutant General of the Armies in Washington, D. C, and later served as an officer with the AEF in France. Upon his return, he attended the college of commerce at the University of California at Berkeley, where he graduated in 1923. King was a California CPA and was a past president of the Controllers Institute of America, Los Angeles control, and was a member of the American Institute of Accountants. On the afternoon of June 1, when he was taken to the hospital, his only son, Ronald, was killed in a motorcycle accident at Briggs Air Base,_El Paso, Tex. Young King had been a member of the Air Corps for four years and was due for an honorable discharge in September. King is., survived by, his * widow, Fayr three sisters1,- Misses LUcflle. and Gertrude King, and Mrs. Fran Bowen, and a brother, Burton King. The family home was at 2230 Adair street, San Marino. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p. m. Saturday in the Wee Kirk O the Heather, Forest Lawn Memorial Parks under the direction of Forest Lawn Mortuary.
