MARPHIL hustled along early to gain a striking position, wore down the leaders from the inside on leaving the backstretch and in a stiff drive turned back KING TWIG a furlong away and outlasted BRACERO. The latter, a forward factor from the start, raced wide and held on stubbornly. SMOKY DAY was between horses much of the way and also held on well after making a strong bid in the early stretch. KING TWIG raced wide and faltered only slightly. BUZZARDS BAY closed some ground while racing between horses in the late stages. JETAIR raced slightly wide in an even effort. -LITTLE FERD was blocked along inside through the final three-eighths. PLUCKY WILLIE was never a factor. The latter, slow to settle into best stride, was forced to come to. the outside to obtain racing room on the stretch turn and finished full cf run. INSULATION also raced wide and closed a big gap. NANGAFF raced well placed, but lacked a closing rally. VIE EN ROSE broke sluggishly. ODDS ADVANCE tired from her early efforts. CONDAMION was sent up fast to wrest command midway down the backstretch, remained slightly wide thereafter and held .on fairly well. VEHICLE had a rough trip much of the way, then was straightened out in the final furlong and finished fastest of all. CHARLESTON was forced wide into the stretch and finished strongly. PRINCE VILLON, prominent from the start, moved to the leaders while under pressure in the early stretch and also held on well after being soundly bumpde a furlong away. ROYAL COYNESS found her best stride too late. MY SHOEMAKER was never a serious factor.
