BACTRIA, a sharp factor from the beginning, assumed a clear lead entering the stretch, weakened when challenged by the winner and, though unable to withstand the latter, held on willingly to easily best the others. BOCCACCIO, never far back, was unable to improve his position when hard hustled through the late stages. OUR VALDINA was under slight restraint during the early running, responded readily when guided to the middle of the track for the stretch- run and was along in the concluding strides to outgame TALKING MAMIE. The latter, never far back, raced AIR BUNNY into defeat to gain command between calls during the stretch run, then held on determinedly in a sharp effort. C00L-HAWAHEE, slow to gain best stride, made up some ground when hard ridden through the final furlong. GALLANT FANAR lacked the necessary rally. AIR BUNNY held a commanding lead when settled for the stretch run, but tulen,,,ne,Tearer whcn subiected to stem punishment. PET REWARD, much used early, had little left. THE PROFF, cleverly rated, remained within easy striking distance of the early leaders, came to the inside to take command after completing the final hedge and gradually drew clear. DEAR BRUTUS, never far back, lugged in repeatedly, interfering with MIELAISON while taking command momentarily approaching the final hurdle, continued to bear in during the late stages and was unable to be subjected to stern punishment. DEAR BRUTUS was disqualified for fouling and placed last. ONEIDA, forwardly placed throughout, was unable to seriously endanger the leaders when set down for the stretch run.
