Turley Hurls Three-Hitter As Yankees Blank As, 4-0 NEW YORK, N. Yi, June 23 UP. Bullet Bob Turley of the New York Yankees, who was dropped into a "soft" assignment because of five straight failures, came through with a dazzling, three-hit shutout today to whip the Kansas City Athletics, 4-0. The bull-shouldered young right hander faced 29 batters, only two more than the minimum, as he gained the ninth victory he had vainly sought since May 25. He also struck out six batters for a total of 106 so far this season; second in the majors only to Herb Score of Cleveland.
