Buckeye Cap Feature At River Downs Tomorrow Circus Clown Likely Favorite; Arbywood Entry Strong Threat RIVER DOWNS, Cincinnati, Ohio, June 23. Highlighting the weeks card as. River Downs swings into the final half of its 44-day meeting will be the first running of the Buckeye Handicap Saturday, June 25. Heading the nine-race program, the Buckeye is expected to draw a full field of the top sprinters on the grounds contesting for the ,500 purse. The race will be run over six furlongs, and is for. three-year-olcls and upward. Probable favorite is W. J. Waldens veteran campaigner, Circus Clown, who sped to a 2Vz length victory in the Kentucky Day Purse last week. The ten-year-old gelding, who posted some outstanding wins at Jamaica and Belmont last year, has won 24,000 in his career, tops among the thoroughbreds here. Another probable starter is E. Bischoffs three-year-old King Phalanx, who is top money winner at the present meeting with trips to the winners circle in the Memorial Day and Cuvier Press Club purses. King Phalanx, hjowever, likes a longer distance, and will be going against older horses. The Arbywood Stable entry of Spy Defense and Lonoke Plash is another pair almost certain to start in the Buckeye. Both have been running up close in top allowance races at the meeting and either, with a good effort, could hit the wire on top Saturday. The Potato Chip Farms four-year-old Marmion, who arrived on the grounds this week, also may be nominated for Saturdays feature and could offer a serious challenge if he can regain the form he displayed last year in winning sprints at Garden State and Gulf stream. Others who may start are R. S. Hilde-j brands Ziggity, who has covered six furlongs in 1:11, fastest time of the meeting;. Doug Daviss iop sprinter, Darling Dora; Bill Pac, wearing the colors of W. F. Scott, and R. C. Howards consistent campaigner. Idle Bojt.
