LOUISIANA DERBY CANDIDATE COLLINSVILLE, 111., Oct. 5. The brilliant performances of the juvenile Torch Stick has given rise to Derby talk at Fairmount Park. The Old Fox Stable entry, trained by E. E. Irby, has been to the post four times the last three here and has yet to taste defeat. Displaying all the essentials of a champion, she has shown speed, courage and gameness, winning races while running in front and gaining honors by coming from behind. Torch Sticks last race, last Saturday, in which she was last at the half-mile post and ran past the field to get up in time to . snatch a neck decision, was one of the most sparkling efforts in the history of the course. Following the race trainer Irby nominated Torch Stick for the Louisiana Derby at New Orleans the first nomniation for this historic stake and mentioned that if the occasion warrants she will be named for other three-year-old classics, including the Ken tucky Derby. Torch Stick is by Torchillaj the well known Dixiana stud, from Flystick by Broomstick, the latter one of the best routers in racing history.
