I HAWTHORNE TURF NOTES I S - 4 Edward K. Thornton, Kansas City sportsman and racing official, and. Mrs. Thornton arrived here Tuesday and were clubhouse patrons. They attended the opening of the Worlds Series. Another arrival for the Worlds Series games was Maury Cooper, of St. Louis, and like many other early arrivals for the diamond series, he took in Tuesdays racing at Hawthorne. Borsodi, Hilsinger and Bar Play, owned by George Keeton and trained by H. Jones, are to get away Thursday for California. The horses which Lank Avant will transfer to Narragansett are Woodsaw, Our Crest, Gay World, Foolem, Doublefol and Summit Hill. Doublefol is bwned by J. B. Gilmore, the others by Mrs. J. A. Nix. E. Daniels got in from Ohio with the plater Fob. Russell Jewett purchased Kai Mask from L. Connor in a private deal at Hawthorne. The racers M. Huttinger brought here from Detroit for R. D. Baxter were Tempting Witch, Gonsbaby, Yankee Waters and Waswanappi. L. Copenhaver is sending the eleven-year-old Malicious to Latonia to fill an engagement on Saturday. From there the horse will bs shipped to Narragansett to join the other horses Copenhaver will have there. Mrs. C. C. Winters claimed Dear Me at Hawthorne for ,250. Jockey Melvin Knight was fined 5 by the Hawthorne stewards for failing to keep his mount, Lady Albert G., straight in the run through the stretch in the third race Monday afternoon. Another arrival from Beulah Park was J. A. Tobin with the plater Lake Shore. Among those heading for Narragansett-after the close here are D. H. Carroll, S. J. Norris and R. C. Groff.
