FINANCIAL WOEBIES EASED COLLINSVILLE, 111., Oct. 5. Worriesover losing his bungalow due to loans and mortgages he has been unable to meet vanished over the week-end for Theodore Vaccaro, University City, Mo., odd-jobs carpenter who, last Saturday captured the ,500 prize in the patrons amateur handicapping contest. But while paying off his debts, Vaccaro was still nervously excited as a result of winning the closest contest yet held at the popular local oval. Vaccaro and Robert Chappins, a St. Louisan, both picked six out of seven winners, to force the decision down to the eighth race. Vaccaro picked Union as his top selection; Chappins named Off Duty. The pair came to the wire hose and nose in a battle for fifth place, and it took the exacting eye of the Thomas camera to show Unions nose tip a shade to the fore and ,500.
