Tiger Flame Too Quick For Ascot Sprint Rivals Outruns Tasket Basket to Give Cranford Trainer Lead at Meet By W. A. CRUSE ASCOT PARK. Cuyahoga Falls. Ohio, May 9. — C. A. Cranford moved into the lead in the trainers ranks here this afternoon when he saddled Mrs. L. A. Cran-fords Tiger Flame. This rather good looking six-year-old Tiger gelding and jockey Clarence Roberts reached the wire two lengths in advance of E. and E. Voegtlys Tasket Basket, who was a head before Miss Villanova. The victory was Cranford s eleventh at the meeting and put him one ahead of Thurman Gammon. Co-choice in the betting with J. B. Flickingers Parlance, which wound up a well beaten fourth. Tiger Flame paid .60, .80 and .00 and covered the six and one -half furlongs in a commendable 1:21%. Jockey Floyd Green was the star rider Continued on Pave Fifty One Tiger Flame Too Quick For Ascot Sprint Rivals Outruns Tasket Basket to Give Cranford Trainer Lead at Meet Continued from Page One of the afternoon, riding a double, including the second half of the Daily Double. He was astride J. P. Carpenters Jack Sell when the five-year -old son of Royal Gem II. coasted to a five and one-half length victory in the second race. It was one of the easiest, as well as one of the most impressive performances of the meeting. For those who had coupled L. Shear and D. Edelmans Brenta, the odds on winner in the first race, with Jack Sell, the Daily Double return was 5.80. E. A. Simpsons Juke was Greens second win. At the end of the mile and one-sixteenth fifth race, he had a half length on C. B. Sperrys Omaha Fair, ridden by Sal Chiappetta. As the favorite, Juke returned .20. The skies were relatively overcast for the day and there were a few sprinkles accompanied by a relatively chilly breeze this afternoon. In view of this, 3.754 fans however, were enthusiastic with their acclaim of the winner. The ,000 Richards-Mercury Purse holds the spotlight on Fridays card. For sophomores exclusively, it has drawn a field of nine, including a pair of couplings. Trainer A. Martinez will send out Wayne Kendricks Valley Marble for an attempt at a second consecutive victory. Last week, the Cararra Marble gelding romped to a two and a half-length score over Mrs. B. Korings Steppin Night. Jockey R. L. Bel-anger and Valley Marble on top from start to finish. The six and one -half furlongs of this affair does not appear to deter in any way from his chances at another front-running victory. Steppin Night will have a stablemate to take up half of the battle. He came from off the pace to finish second the other day and it is not improbable to figure that Lively Lou will be with Valley Marble, at least in the early going. The J. Cachia and R. Cunning entry of Money Money and Tin Flyer also is a duet which cannot be overlooked. Of this pair, Tin Flyer has the most impressive record, which includes three consecutive seconds. In the most recent essay, he finished behind the Ypsi-Bee Stables Well of Joy.
