GRATUITY made a steady run to the leaders after settling into the backstretch, wore down the leader in the early stretch and was clear at the finish. THE GOON gained command leaving the far turn but was no match for the winner in the final run. BLENFLY was forced -to lose ground entering the stretch, then lacked a solid rally. ST. MARKS, under restraint behind th* leaders, had to be steadied for a while on the final turn seeking racing room along the inside, then failed to respond when finding room. LOVELY DICE, in hand when outrun and racing wide, rallied leaving the far turn and, continuing wide the remainder of the trip, wore down the leaders in midstretch, and rapidly drew away. LITTLE DILLARD challenged for command in the early stretch, briefly held the lead between calls, then could not handle the winner. PYONGYANG was slow in responding to pressure and finished willingly from between horses in the drive. MONA LOU flattened out in the final run after setting the pace. Mona Lou claimed by Mrs. F. Calcagni, trained by F. Calcagni. Attendance, 8,335; Total Mutuel Pool, 11,595.
