Apprentice Richard Barnett Leaves Ranks of Non-Winners CAHOKIA DOWNS. East St. Louis. Ill-May 9. — Apprentice Richard Barnett, who was issued a license last week after the local stewards approved his probationary one following this first two rides, left the ranks of non-winning jockeys in the eighth race Tuesday night, putting up a stirring ride to win the initial race of his riding career on V. E. Headys Savannah Red in one of the two features offered. After accepting the congratulations of other riders on his first score the 17-year-old Miami. Okla.. youth came back in the following event and ion with Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Logsdons Vai leis Boy. Barnett is under contract to the Logsdon establishment. The youngster, who does as light as 103 pounds, is represented here by Ralph Shaw, his agent.
