Ohio Measure for 44-Day Meets Awaits Senate Vote COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 9.— A bill that would permit all race tracks in the state, regardless of size and whether thoroughbred or standardbred ovals, to operate for 44 days during the Ohio season from April through October is awaiting a vote on the floor of the Senate after being recommended for passage by the Senate Agriculture Committee. The House of Representatives already has approved the measure. At present, thoroughbred tracks three-quarters of a mile or less in circumference may conduct no more than two 19-day meetings the period from April through October. Only track now in operation that stands to benefit from the proposal is the half-miler at Hamilton. The Butler County course would be permitted to run for 44 days, instead of 38, if the legislation is enacted.
