Fort Miami" to Experiment With New Half-Mile Strip FORT MIAMI. Maumee, Ohio, May 9. — Plans are proceeding for the construction of a half-mile track on the Lucas County fair grounds in addition to the regular mile track now in use. The half mile strip has been surveyed and laid out and the poles for the rails have already been placed in the ground. Workmen are busily engaged putting up the rails and a few races may be run over the "new" track this weekend. Robert Leavitt, director of racing at the Fort Miami plant, reports that plans and work are going along according to schedule. One of the reasons the management is experimenting with the half-mile idea is that the fans may find the racing more interesting and larger crowds will turn out to witness the sport.
