Jack Dempsey to Aid in Opening Balmoral Meeting on Monday HOME WOOD. 111., May 9.— Jack Dempsey will play a part in getting the Balmoral Jockey Club meeting away to a colorful start at Washington Park Monday. The former worlds heavyweight champion is a long-time friend of Russell L. Reineman, president of Balmoral, who will honor him by naming the fifth race the Jack Dempsey Purse. -The famous Manassa Mauler also will present the trophy to the winner of the opening-day feature, the 5,000 added Coronet Stakes. At noon Monday, Dempsey will be guest of honor at a luncheon given by the Illinois Racing Board at Washington Park.
