Michigan Notes HAZEL PARK, Mich., June 4. Hazel Parks saddle colony received a boost when apprentice Robert Parrott arrived from Louisville and checked his tack with jockey room custodian Ernie Mott. The youngster was leading "bug" rider at the recent Churchill Downs meeting, and has joined the local stable of his contract employer, K. Burkhardt. Completely recovered from an appendicitis operation which sidelined him late in the Kentucky meeting, Parrott plans to swing into action on Saturdays racing card. Starover, one of the ranking three-year-olds last year in Australia and now campaigning at Hollywood Park, is to be flown to Hazel Park by owner Ralph Green and trainer Charles Kerr, to appear in local long distance handicaps, according to present plans of the stable. The four-year-old colt was purchased by Green for a large but undisclosed sum, and then won two races at Santa Anita following his arrival on these shores. Plane transportation from the Far West is now being checked for the best available flight. Waldo D. Andrews, vice - president of Hazel Park, received his greatest racing thrill on Monday when his own homebred, Sleek Boy, scored in the third race at the expense of a band of two-year-old maidens. It was the first horse ever, bred by Andrews to win a race, and represented a complete Hazel Park background. The sire, JBoy-Plin, was a local favorite in the early years of Hazel Parks racing, while Sleek Girl, the dam, was purchased by Andrews from a paddock auction at the track several years ago. Sleek Boy, the result of this union, represents the start of the Andrews breeding fortunes.
