River Downs Turf Course Prize Brings Out Nine Tab Harry Husman and Arioso 11. As Top Contenders in Mile Test By W. A. CEUSE RIVER DOWNS, Cincinnati, Ohio, June 4. Racing secretary Jimmy Ross has arranged one of the outstanding programs of the current meeting for Wednesdays nine-race card. The highlight of the day will be the Cincinnati Retail Grocers Day Purse and upwards of 6,500 fans are expected to be on hand for the festivities including 2,500 members of the group being honored. Post time will be 2:30. There will be added charm in the winners circle after the running of the chief attraction when the lovely Warner Brothers starlet, Dani Crayne, will make a special presentation to the winning owner, trainer and jockey on behalf of the grocers association. Miss Crayne is currently on tour with Tony Vincent, dance instructor, who is now a noted choreographer in Hollywood. The main event of the day is listed as the seventh and nine steady-going- campaigners will battle it out for the lions share xi the spoils over a mile on the turf course. The closely-matched field in the head-liner is comprised of the Potato Chip Farms Harry Husman, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Logsdons Arioso II., Prewitt and Mullins Sure Quis, R. Wales Drogheda, Mrs. Anne Neylons Makings, C. Knights Spring Khal, C. E. Gibsons Concentrator and F. H. Swains Colonel Tip. Harry Husmans big triumph was in the 0,000 Ascot Gold Cup, a gruelling two-mile race and he collected ,500 for his winning effort. The son of Hunter Moon TV, also registered a pair of victories in Florida the past winter and appears to have a touch of class. He will carry 121 pounds, including the capable reinsman Billy Phelps. Arioso n. was victorious in his last en-Seavor at this oval over the grass course and looms up as the logical contender on the basis of that sterling performance. The promising apprentice R. L. Barnett has been assigned the saddle chores. Sure Quis won his last race here on opening day and has been training steadily since that winning essay. The five-year-old mare will be seeking her second victory and -apprentice Mike Koptyra will do the booting. Droghedais highly regarded and could upset on a peak effort. This five-year-old son of Some Chance turned in a commendable effort here last Friday in the Cincinnati Polo Purse over a muddy racing strip and may have needed that race as a tightener. Spring Khal was a winner at the meeting but Wednesdays test appears to be a little too rough for him to handle while Mrs. Anne Neylons Makings will be making his River Downs debut. However, he won in Florida in February and may be a strong-contender. Many faults and Concentrator complete the field but appear to be a trifle overmatched. The eighth race, titled the Ohio Township Trustees and Clerks Purse, is designated as the co-feature and nine thoroughbreds will match strides at six furlongs. Th terio likely to receive the bulk of support in this test are Joli Dou, Seppie and Apasay.
