Hertz Refuses 50,000 Bid For Toothless Rulership HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., June 4. John D. Hertz revealed here today that he had, on behalf of Mrs. Hertz, turned down an offer of 50,0j0 for her homebred Nasrullah colt, Rulership, winner of his first start here last Thursday in the excellent time of :57 for five furlongs. Rulership, a "toothless" youngster like the Santa Anita Derby winner, Sir William, is out of the Count Fleet matron, Not Afraid, dam of Prince John, the 1955 winner of the worlds richest race, The Garden State. According to Hertz, the trainer for a large California stable asked him what he would take for the colt. "Ive already refused an offer for 25,-000," Hertz informed him. "I .dont blame you," said the man. "What is hev worth to you?" countered Hertz. "One hundred and fifty thousand," was the answer. "This may be the kind of a colt a man would wait a lifetime for," said Hertz. "One hundred and fifty thousand wont buy him. Probably no price will." The Hertzes, incidentally, have two other Nasrullahs out of Count Fleet mares in their Hollywood Park stalls. They will make their debuts shortly.
